What is The Soldier’s Heart?

The Soldier’s Heart is a resource for all those affected by Post Traumatic Stress. That of course includes the veteran, but also the veteran’s family & friends, community, and their health care providers. The goal of the Soldier’s Heart is to answer any questions about PTS, even the ones you might not know to ask. From helping the veteran understand what is going on inside themselves to helping the family understand why their loved one is hurting to helping a healthcare worker learn how to better connect to their vets. Of course true understanding of what veterans go through cannot be fully obtained, only the vet experienced what they did, but common ground can be found, holes can be filled, compassion and caring can be communicated, and life for our veterans and their family can be improved.

Why “The Soldier’s Heart”?

Soldier’s Heart was a term for the odd symptoms soldiers during the civil war experience after the war was over, most notably odd heart rhythms. It is the precursor to what was later referred to as “battle fatigue”, “shell shock”, and finally PTSD. Every veteran experiences some amount of Post Traumatic Stress even if it does not meet all the requirements to be diagnosed as PTSD. That is why we use the term Post Traumatic Stress or PTS. We aim to attack more than just a disease, and to provide a glimpse into the Hearts of our soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen through short informative videos from experts in the field, many of whom are veterans themselves, as well as stories from veterans and their families.

We hope we can provide some support and answers for those all those who are affected by PTS.

Thank you and God Bless our veterans.
